Dear Mary

Dear Mary,
Did you know?  When the angel Gabriel can to you , what ran through you rmind? He said you were highly favored, and you were troubled.  Did you wonder why he would say that, what was so great about you - or what was coming next?
Gabriel told you not to be afraid, that you had found favor with God.  What was your life like before?  Maybe you would say that you were just the average teenage girl, but there was something extraordinary about you, and the Father was pleased.  Did you know what He had in mind for you?
The angel told you that you would be pregant and have a son.  He said you would name Him Jesus, that He would be called the Son of the Most High.  You were told that the Lord would give Him the throne, and His kingdom would never end.  Did you know that He would also be despised and rejected, that your son would be born to die?
Mary, you were engaged to Joseph, but still a virgin.  Did you know what was to take place in your body?  You asked Gabriel how you could possibly have a baby when you had never been with a man.  He told you about your cousin Elizabeth, how the Holy Spirit would upon you and fill you with His power, and that nothing is impossible with God.
You told the angel you were God's servant, and said, "May everything happen to me just like you have said."  You were so full of faith, Mary.  Did you know what all this meant, how it would flip your life around - forever?  Gabriel left.  His work was done, but your adventure was just beginning.  Did you know?
I admire you.  What if it had been me?  What if God had asked me to give birth to His Son?  You were ready and willing.  Would I be?  What if He wanted me to risk it all for Him and do something radical that would turn my life upside down?  What if He does?

With love,
